Shri Kirit Bhimani, Chairman of Shree Lohana Mahaparishad’s Environment, Organic Farming, Clean Energy and Water Conservation Committee has been appointed as an Environmental Consultant to The Somnath Trust (Somnath Mahadev Temple) for a special tree plantation drive where the trust will plant 11 Lakh trees, one for every resident of the Gir Somnath Area, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the nation-wide celebration to mark 75 years of India’s independence. The drive is dedicated to planting trees that generate economic opportunities for the residents of the area.
The Somnath Trust manages Shree Somnath Temple of Lord Shiva, which is first among the twelve Aadi Jyotirlings of India. It has a strategic location on the western coast of India. The Pran-Pratistha at the existing temple was done on 11th May 1951 by then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Currently, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is the Chairman of the Trust. The other trustees are Home Minister Amit Shah, former deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani, former Chief Secretary of Gujarat P. K. Laheri, Kolkata-based businessman Harshvardhan Neotia and J D Parmar.
